Bum Heroes Knight Hybrid Fitteds - our HF solution for heavy wetters and overnight

My husband and I came up with the idea of Bum Heroes Knight a few months after we started selling handmade cloth diapers last April 2014. We wanted to offer an "upgraded" version of our regular hybrid fitteds, something that would work well for heavy wetters and overnight cloth nappying. We came up with a special logo for this as well, by adding a moon design to our basic Bum Heroes logo. The moon signifies "night" but we wanted something that fits better with our Bum Heroes brand, so we decided to call it "Bum Heroes Knight." :)

Before we got our lovely BH Knight tag though, we were already making windpro diapers, so we decided to indicate this by putting a red ribbon on the side of the tag:

First of all, if you're new here, what are hybrid fitteds?

The hybrid fitted diaper was a concept that a work-at-home-mom in the US came up with. Fitteds, which were basically cloth diapers made of all absorbent materials, were already being used by many moms, but she decided to experiment by adding a hidden layer of polyfleece in the fitted diaper, to help repel the pee/liquid. So instead of having to use a cover with a fitted to make it waterproof, the hidden polyfleece effectively adds a water repellant layer to the fitted diaper. So there is no need to use a cover anymore! (But some moms still use covers to ensure a really waterproof diaper)

So we've been making Bum Heroes Hybrid Fitteds with hidden regular polyfleece and organic bamboo fleece soakers. But for the BH Knight, we needed something that would repel water better, so we decided to use windpro fleece.

Windpro fleece has a tight knit construction and a durable water resistant finish, making it extremely effective in repelling water. Here are some of the windpro fleece we use:

You may be surprised that the BH Knight you receive will sometimes have a thick or thin shell. This is because windpro fabrics vary in weight and thickness - and their availability is not always regular. But we always make sure that the windpro fabrics we use are very effective in repelling liquid/pee. We're proud to be the first to offer windpro HFs in the country. :)

We also decided to upgrade the soakers included in Bum Heroes for its Knight counterpart. Instead of using organic bamboo fleece, we decided to use organic hemp bamboo fleece - hemp is a very absorbent type of fabric, and combining it with bamboo results in a soft and very absorbent soaker.

Here's how the soakers of our BH Knight looks:

Basically it's composed of a petal style soaker, a snap in booster in the middle, and a two-sided top booster (an original BH concept), with one side cotton velour or organic bamboo velour, and the other side using stay dry athletic wicking fabric. We love this two-sided booster since you can choose which side you want direct on your baby's skin. We know that some moms prefer stay dry while others love the softness of velour, so we're giving you the option to choose. :) All in all, the soaker offers you 8 layers of absorbency using heavy organic hemp bamboo fleece.

We're happy that customers really liked our Bum Heroes Knight, with many using them effectively overnight. And good news, we're having our next stocking on April 26, Sunday, at 8pm! It will be held in our group, so make sure you're a member here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bumheroes/ If not, just click "join" in the link provided. :) (If you're not getting approved, feel free to send me a message on the Bum Heroes page)

(This particular print will be included in the stocking! Isn't it adorable?)

My husband is planning a surprise for those who will join the stocking in celebration of BH anniversary, so hope to see you there!

Until next time!

Introducing Bum Heroes Cloth Diapers, lovingly made by Work at Home Parents

Bum Heroes Cloth Diaper is celebrating its first anniversary this month, and one of the things that I've always wanted to do is blog about Bum Heroes, and so here I am. :)

My husband, Rogel, and I came up with the idea of Bum Heroes more than a year ago. I noticed that more and more people were going for handmade products instead of mass-produced or factory-produced ones, and so we decided to make our own diapers.

It wasn't easy, but my husband rose up to the challenge and decided to learn how to sew diapers. He studied online, read sewing manuals back to back, and practiced A LOT. There was a lot of trial and error involved, but finally, we were able to finish our first few handmade cloth diapers. Here's one of the first diapers he finished sewing, an "upcycled" hybrid fitted using an old shirt, worn by our daughter:

After my husband gained confidence in sewing, we decided to have our first stocking last April 2014. It was a successful one, and with his able assistant (me), we've gone through a lot of stockings since then, and here we are now, one year later.

We've made a lot of changes since those early days. Even though we've had good reviews from the beginning, we didn't want to remain complacent so we listened well to customers' feedback of our products. We made a lot of improvements in our soakers, and we were also the first to offer serged diapers in the country. We also decided to branch out from just making hybrid fitteds to also making PUL diapers, matching clothes & accessories, and we're excited about new Bum Heroes products in the line up.

We're truly thankful for our customers, who've continued to support us since we started selling Bum Heroes. We wouldn't have reached one year without you. So we have a lot of surprises in store now that we've turned 1... I just hope we have enough time to put them all into fruition. :)

I'm also super grateful to my husband, without whom, Bum Heroes might never have been born. :)

Next time, I plan to blog about the different products that Bum Heroes offers, including our Bum Heroes Hybrid Fitteds, BH Knight, BH PUL Pockets, BH Pocket HFs, and more!

Talk to you again soon! :)
